Well it looks like there are some new names being thrown around in the search for the director and Christian Grey in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. The latest names in the mix are Bill Condon and Erik Odem. The director and actor both have a Twilight connection. Condon directed both Breaking Dawn films, and Odom portrayed the nomadic vampire Patrick in Breaking Dawn Part 2. The pair have found themselves in the center of the Fifty Shades vortex thanks to – what else – Twitter.
First things first, E L James sent the following 'thank you' tweet out to Odom, Jack Morrisey, and an unknown fan fiction writer. You can read the whole conversation here.
@jack_morrissey @erikodom @abstractway Thanks for a lovely evening. :)

So who is Jack Morrissey you ask? He's a film producer who also happens to be in a relationship with Bill Condon. That would explain the Erik Odom connection, apparently the two are quite chummy.
@e_l_james HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I threw you right to the wolves like a CHAMP!!!!@abstractway @erikodom @lizlemonbennett @xoemc

James and Morrissey's recent dinners – along with their ensuing Twitter banter – have been fuelling rumours that Condon may be in talks to direct Fifty Shades of Grey. Now with Erik Odom involved, new rumours are swirling that the 26-year-old actor could be a new frontrunner to play Christian Grey.
@abstractway @e_l_james @erikodom I take it we've all seen the Examiner story connecting the latest dot to the conspiracy?

One of the 'dots' Morrissey may be referring to is the following little tidbit that Odom revealed in an interview with the Examiner back in October:
You know, I'm also working on something that I'm helping to create. There's a movie I can't say too much about but hopefully we're going to shoot next summer. It's a fun little project that has some interesting Twilight connections as far as the people that are working on it, and that's pretty much all I can say now, but it's going to be really exciting.
While all of this appears to be nothing more than speculation, we can't help but wonder if there is any truth to it. Perhaps the studio wants to go with a director experienced in adapting popular books and an unknown actor that isn't tied to other roles. Only time will tell.
What do you think of Bill Condon and Erik Odom? Is going with an unknown actor the way to go? Share your thought in the comments!
Hell no!!!.Henry all the way!
Casting Erik Odom as Christian Grey would be a real travesty and spitting in the face of the fans. A big NO. Actually, I hope there are no Twilight people connected to the FSOG films.

I know very little about Odom's talent, so cannot comment as to whether he is is the right actor to play Christian Grey. However, having an unknown actor could be the best route to go, in so far that every dick and harry has an opinion on who should play Christian... My only concern here is that whomever they pick better be good enough to shadow all the popular names brought about.
I'd love Gabriel Macht to play Christian Grey!!!!
I ❤ Gabriel Macht, but at 41 I think he might be a little too old for this role. He would be a good option for Dr. Flynn though.
I am seriously crushing on Gabriel Macht, but agree he's a bit too old.
NO!!! He is too young besides the bulk of the audience who will be attending the movie are fans of HENRY CAVILL. HE IS MASCULINE, SENSUAL, BUILT LIKE MOST WOMEN LIKE THEM, HIS FACE HAS SYMMETRY.....very important if you want the audience to like him. ....and finally. HE CAN ACT (The Tudors, Shakespeare, and soon Superman).
this Bill Condon guy might just work and good luck to the film if he's sis picked, but this other guy Erik Odom no way, Christian is gorgeous like a male model this guy is not, he looks too frail to play a man who works out extensively who runs lifts weights kick boxes and looks like a male model. Christian has to beautiful like Ana stresses in the books time and time again
This guy does not have the attractiveness, and who knows if he has the acting talent to pull off this kind of role. He certainly doesn't look dominating, and honestly he does not make me weak in the knees...AT ALL. I don't like the idea of complete unknowns, and not knowing enough as to whether they could pull this off. I like the idea of semi-unknowns.....more up and coming actors. Henry Cavill would be awesome as Christian, in sooo many ways.
I believe the actor how will play the Christian role eventually, will have to be beyond the external look. He will need the facial expression, body gestures, charisma, sophistication, wit, sensitivity, deep understanding of the character, and above all he must be a true professional To the L.
The only actor who fits that description and more is Matt Bomer. And I believe he will get the role.![]()
Noooooo!!!!!!!! I think a well known actor would be better. I personally think Henry Cavill would be a good choice for Christian!
